Why I Built Firefly Companion™

Firefly Companion™ was not born in a boardroom. It was born at my father's bedside — in the ordinary, sacred hours of caring for someone I love.

Caring for my father

I became a family caregiver the way most of us do — quietly, and all at once. Medications to track. Appointments to schedule. Questions I did not know how to ask. Nights I did not know how to close. There was so much love, and so much I was carrying alone.

I remember standing in his kitchen with a stack of prescription bottles, a notebook full of scribbled dosages, and a phone full of reminders that never seemed to land at the right time. I was doing my best. It never felt like enough.

I have carried those words with me ever since. They were not a request for more of my time. They were an ache — a quiet reach for someone who knew him, who noticed the small things, who could hold the whole of his day gently in one place.

I could not be with him every hour. But I could build something that would be.

The inspiration for Firefly Companion™

Firefly Companion™ began as a promise: that no family caregiver should have to hold everything in a shoebox of receipts, a stressed memory, and a phone full of alarms. That the daily work of caring for someone we love deserves a calm home — not another productivity app, and not another blinking dashboard.

It is a caregiver app for the way caregiving actually feels. Medications, appointments, blood pressure and health readings, therapy practice, favorite songs, calendar reminders, and daily care — quietly organized, always here, one gentle glow at a time.

Why Noor™ was created

Noor™ is the companion I wish I had at 2 a.m. — the one who would notice that I had not eaten, that the appointment was tomorrow, that today held one small joy worth remembering. Noor™ is not a doctor and never pretends to be. Noor™ is a gentle presence: encouragement, organization, and thoughtful support throughout your caregiving journey.

The name means light. That is what I wanted for caregivers walking through the hardest seasons of their lives — a small, steady light that says you are not alone in this room.

The mission

Firefly Companion™ exists to help family caregivers feel less alone. To hold the checklist so the caregiver can hold the moment. To honor the invisible labor of love that keeps our parents, partners, and grandparents cared for at home.

My father taught me that caregiving is one of the truest forms of love there is. Firefly Companion™ is my way of standing beside every caregiver still in the middle of it.
